Air Mauritius upgrades long-haul fleet
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BY April next year Air Mauritius will have replaced its two B767s with a full complement of A340-300Es as part of the upgrade of its long-haul product. The addition of three new-generation A340s – the first in November, second in December and third most likely in April – will bring the total number of A340s in its fleet to eight.
Raj Bhujohory, gm: Australasia, Africa and Indian Ocean, said that Air Mauritius would use one of them on its Saturday service between Mauritius and Johannesburg from mid-January 2007, when capacity demands required it.
Air Mauritius is also looking at adding a third frequency on its Mauritius-Durban route in April next year.

Apparently MK wanted to go to 5x a week on the DUR-MRU route, offering connections through to BOM/DEL but that seems to have fallen by the way side....
JNB normally gets the A340s over the holiday seasons (Chrsitmas and Easter) when South Africans flock to the island for a break. I'm sure JNB, CPT and DUR could sustain a B762 each once a week - although I don't think MK has that type of flexibilty.
Incidentally MK has sold it's B762s and leased them straight back for the remainder of their lives. According to airmauritius.com the new inflight product will consist of a 3-class (flat-bed business, premium eco and eco) layout with AVOD and other bells and whistles.
