SAA for JNB-MEL?
Hi I have heard rumours of a JNB-MEL route being started up by SAA - can anyone confirm? Is it going to go via PER, or direct? Thanks

Interesting thought, although this is how I see it: Air New Zealand are starting AKL-MEL-JNB soon as SAA will likely codeshare since they are both Star Parteners. If this is the case I see it as being particularly inefficient for SAA to fly MEL, especially via PER! When the billateral codeshare between SAA and Qantas ends it is unlikely that it will be renewed due to tensions between Star Alliance and One World - in the same way as SAA's relationships with Cathay Pacific and Delta have ended. When this happens SAA has some options, continue JNB-PER onto either MEL or SYD, SYD seems more likely since it is the bigger market! Although whatever happens will be very interesting!
