SAA signs codeshare agreements with Rwandair and Egyptair
Johannesburg, South Africa (PANA) - South African Airways (SAA) announced Wednesday that it has further expanded its foothold in Africa after signing codeshare agreements with Egypt Air and Rwandair Express. As a result of the agreement, SAA customers will have the opportunity to travel between Johannesburg and Cairo in Egypt and between Johannesburg and Kigali in Rwanda, beginning next Sunday. The latest two partnerships form part of SAA's aim to increase its frequencies within the continent. The airline noted that the agreement with Egypt Air comes more than 20 years since SAA last had a presence in the North African market. SAA explained that it will be withdrawing from Kigali after operating on the route for more than six years but that the airline's presence will be maintained through the new codeshare. "We believe these new partnerships will benefit both business and leisure travellers between South Africa, Egypt and Rwanda, allowing for greater trade, development and tourism opportunities", said Nomfanelo Magwentshu, SAA General Manager Business Development.
