Camair has gone, First Delta Air Services comes in. The announcement was made yesterday, 29 June, by the minister of Economy and Finance. From the four operators pre-qualified to take over Cameroun Airlines, the offer made by the First Delta Air Services consortium (SN Brussels Airlines and Cenainvest, a Camerounese venture capital company) has been retained by the privatisation commission. The winning bidder gets 51 % of the shares of the future national airline. The gouvernement and First Delta Air Services will sign the documents within 10 days. The State of Cameroun will keep “golden shares”. First Delta Air Service will fly under a Cameroun flag and registration. The take-over of Camair by SN Brussels was expected, as the three other airlines withdrew their bid in recent weeks. The project of SN Brussels to transform Douala airport into a regional hub for central Africa was appreciated by the authorities of Cameroun.
