Indeed many domestic airlines cancelled their flights on thursday and friday due to shortage of Jet A1 in Lagos. The story on the runway lighting is new to me. But hey 18R is finally in service again (and now hope they will refurbish 18L, which is in extremly poor shape)!
Furthermore some observations of the last two weeks:
Chanchangi has inaugurated service to Kano, they now fly daily Lagos-Kaduna-Kano
IRS Airlines had its last Fokker grounded due to maintenance problems. They now fulltime lease a B737 from Spaceworld airlines and fly a reduced schedule.
Virgin Nigeria suffered a severe blow in PR when the president ordered their longhaul-planes to be used for the Haij. They cancelled two flights two JNB and LGW respectively. |

Hi there,
Former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, was stranded at the Presidential Wing of Lagos' Murtala Mohammed Airport for two hours on Thursday, because of the ongoing fuel scarcity in the aviation sector.
Most airlines had to cancel flights and/or went to Ghana to refuel their aircraft.
I just don't understand how something like this can happen in Nigeria. I could in Zimbabwe, but Nigeria with all its oil fields should have enough money to buy fuel!
